A travel experience is an experience of a life time! Its not one of those moments that happen, then later seems to be erased from memory(unless it was a negative one, then by all means get RID of that shit). I may have an unforgivable short term memory( literally cannot recall what i did yesterday) but i have never forgotten(and never will) those times that made me feel completely at one with life and bursting with energy and excitement!
Today i am reliving my top five travel moments and experiences to date. It was hard to whittle them down to just five, there has been so many but i picked the following based on the value i believe that they would add to everybody’s life if you got the chance to try them one day. Yes that’s all of you, including all the Toms, Dicks and Harry’s out there!.
Taking a ride on the Worlds Fastest Roller-coaster in Abu Dhabi
For anybody who is a thrill-seeker, the worlds fastest roller-coaster in United Arab Emirates capital city, Abu Dhabi will blow your mind and everything else away. Formula Rossa reaches crazy speeds but honestly its over before you know it. So dont even bother blinking, or you will miss the action. It was a truly exhilarating and terrifying experience to have done by myself and considering this was the only roller-coaster i have ever sat on. Tell a lie there i did go on the indoor roller-coaster in Malaysia but come on its indoor, so does that even count?
Anyway the coaster launches riders from a crazy 0-240km/ph in just 4.9 seconds. Holy shit i know! You must wear the provided protective eye wear due to the high speeds and risk of impact with airborne dust. Its always a good idea to pack a spare pair of undies too…well you know, just in case!
Afterwards once you have overcome the dizzy spell spend some leisure time exploring the wonders of Ferrari World, the worlds biggest indoor theme park in which the roller-coaster is set.
Dune buggy in the Dubai desert
Skip the humpy camel rides(although i have rode a camel before admittedly) when coming to luxurious and cosmopolitan Dubai and instead feel the hot sand of the desert hit your face as you race a buggy through the waves of golden sands. These custom built buggy’s with their powerful engines and solid cages make this sand spewing and dune bashing experience an Adrenalin filled day in Dubai. You will not follow any particular path or route as there is no visible path and quite frankly even if there was it all looks the same.Miles and miles of never ending Arabian glowing desert. You will drive after a lead buggy driver who will allow you stops along the way to see camels up close and do some sand boarding off the biggest dunes possible. You do have to hold a valid license to drive a buggy as they are manual , so that naturally placed me in the passenger slot. However i enjoyed holding onto my phone and seat for dear life and capturing moments while being lurched through the dunes recklessly. I loved every minute of it .
Drive in a Ferrari in Monte Carlo
We all should get a glimpse of how the other half life once in our life and it probably doesn’t get much better or closer to it than cruising in a Ferrari on the F1 race track of uber glam Monaco. Isn’t that the friggn life?! Now naturally as with everything you go to do, eat, drink or see in Monaco this experience will give your purse a nice rattling. But for the drive for a lifetime set on the stunning french riviera, well the choice is yours? Once again i found myself in the passenger seat, no way they were going to let me behind the wheel of a car that beastly and powerful. Id kill all around me! Even if i could drive i dont think id trust myself with such a weapon. Nonetheless my driver really gave me the full Ferrari experience no doubt showing me the levels of speed the Ferrari could reach, it was a similar feeling to being on Formula Rossa…stuck firmly to my seat. Interestingly my driver was a former pilot and now drives a Ferrari for a living(what a man) so to say he knew how to control and navigate the red sleek and expensive car on the road is a given. You will see way to many a Ferrari on a trip to Monaco especially around the casino area, and i am sure this is the dream of many(mostly guys). Don’t be fooled by the floppy hat that didn’t last pissing time once that Ferrari roared!.
Party at the hot and steamy Sparty in Budapest
You probably believed you have partied until you have raved like a lunatic at a thermal pool in Budapest. I am talking 30 degrees pools(that are also rich in minerals), bikini clad bodies, copious amounts of alcohol, booming DJs and fluorescent laser shows. Yes i bet you are on sky-scanner right now checking those flights! I have been to pool parties and boat parties previous, but this spa party knocks all of them clean out of the water(pun intended). Depending on the time of year you visit Budapest will determine which baths you will party in. I partied at the Lukas baths, while in Summer they are mostly held in the Szechenyi baths(the more famous of baths). As you party in the outdoors despite any weather conditions the heated pools create a layer of steam and cloud like ambiance going on above your head. Its surreal and sure to be the hottest and steamiest night out drinking you will ever have!.
Dive the Great Barrier Reef
Ah the barrier reef! A true wonder of the world down under. I have dived twice in my life once in Spain with my family and then on my East Coast trip in Australia. If ever asked i always tell people i will not dive again(partially because it scares the life out of me ) and more so due to wanting the vivid memories this coral reef displays to stay with me forever. It was one of the best experiences of my life, considering i am by no means a water baby, one i dont believe can be topped. My diving instructor took me down one to one and held my head for the first while( i cant really swim so forgive my childish needs). I remember asking him if i could have a swig of vodka before diving in to ease my nerves, naturally that wasn’t a go!. I seen so many vibrant colorful fish, felt like it was something straight out off finding Nemo(yep i spotted him too). I even saw a massive turtle and a shark, which my instructor KINDLY pointed out. Felt my heart skip a beat at that point! The Great Barrier Reef has been hailed as one of the best dive sights in the world and with what i got to witness with my own eyes that day i well believe it. Its a mind-blowing moment down under. I have also sea walked in Bali, instead of diving you walk along the ocean bed with that crazy looking sea-walker helmet on your head.
So there you have it my round up of five unbelievable travel moments. Have you experienced or would like to experience any of these? Would love to hear all about it!
As of next week i will find myself slugging on beers in Munich, checking out nudist beaches despite the inappropriate temperatures and seeing castles only fit for a sleeping beauty. I am also taking a trip to a relatively unheard and non touristy area in Austria which i am too excited about. I think it may just be one of the most picturesque places in all of Europe, but time will tell. So make sure to follow my adventures back to European lands!!
