Bangkok is a city full of life and vibrancy. From a crazy amount of shopping centers, temples, palaces, cultural experiences, bright lights and an endless amount of places to eat and party the night away. Yes i love to leave my little Thai town for a weekend and brush shoulders with fellow backpackers on khao San road(be rude not to), eat a redonkulous amount of western style food and of course squeeze in some shopping and sightseeing.Standard!
While there is no shortage of hostels and accommodation options in Thailand’s tourist hub, i recently found two very special hostels here in Bangkok. Both are relatively new
and unique in their own little ways and neither are that well known. So i
thought i would share my amazing finds here with you guys!!!
Why should you stay here??
Situated down a quiet yet plenty happening lane-way(tonnes of food vendors) on Sukhumvit road this hostel is also close to BTS Phrom Phong, so getting to and fro is easy. This hostel is one of the best i have stayed at privacy wise. It is perfectly named as you literally do sleep in a box(don’t worry you wont feel claustrophobic). If you can imagine climbing into a cubby hole but getting to sleep on the fluffiest bed and having a 24″ TV at your feet then this is exactly what Matchbox hostel gives you. Boutique hostel much? Just adding to its uniqueness is that fact the beds go by the following titles( mixed dorm business class, mixed dorm first class, lady dorm business class and mixed dorm first class). Doesn’t get much more modern than that!
This hostel is one that knows the meaning of co- living space and alone time wrapped into one providing a pull over curtain in front of your little box bed(gone are the sheet thrown over the bed days guys). With the option of the four different types of rooms to choose from, this hostel will allow you to meet people at your ease or not if you prefer to have some quality you time in your box . This hostel is new, clean, comfortable and the staff are super friendly despite any communication difficulties. I particularly like the upstairs area of the hostel, featuring a cute little kitchen/lounge area with a nice chill out balcony area outside. The showers and bathroom facilities are spotless, even with separate area rooms to get dressed and do your makeup. This is one of those hostels where you feel instantly at home(not a feeling one on Khao San will give you). Prices start from 450 baht.

Here hostel
Why should you stay here?
Here hostel on Ratchadmnoen road is all levels of charming with its wooden panelled decor and its signature slide as you walk in the door. Yep that’s right, no need to walk from your dorm downstairs when you can whiz your self down the slide. Hours of drunken laughter on that bad boy! Just a five minute walk from Khao San road but tucked away neatly off the Ratchadmnoen intersection you will find this authentic style small boutique hostel. This hostel works off the traditional Thai living vibes but that doesn’t mean they have scrimped on the comfort levels. While the rooms are small(not much room for activities) the beds are glorious, so glorious that i slept in till 12pm this weekend here. Either that was the effects of a night after too many buckets or the fact the bed was to cozy to leave. The hostel offers dorm style rooms and private rooms also. They also have a ladies room with a view if you and your favourite gals like your own space. The shower facilities are like no other featuring a rain-shower and all the other amenities typical hostels skip like shampoo, hairdryers and towels. A bed for a night here starts at 450 baht .
