Australia is one of the most stunning countries in the world, so its easy to understand why thousands upon thousands of people flock to the land down under each year. With its white wash beaches, its almost perfect climate, superb standard of living and incredible scenery, if you hadn’t considered Australia-well now you should!
With all that in mind i have decided to put together my five main reasons why i believe Oz is an ideal choice for a first time traveller. Jetting off as a beginner can make you feel nervy but hopefully the following five points can put you at ease and make you want to click confirm on that booking. You know you want to!
1-No language barrier-
This is is a serious plus when moving to a country. Knowing that you can walk in anywhere and connect with people means your already on a winner. Try living in Thailand or Vienna where there is distinct language barriers. Trust me iv been there and it can make your life a living hell when trying to secure a job( application forms are all in German in Vienna to start with). Seeing as English is the spoken language in Oz, communication is a breeze!
2-Half of Ireland and England are there amoungst every other nationality-
I think of Australia as home away from home ..just with better weather and more eye candy! Seriously though i have never felt more comfortable and care free in a country than i did here. If you are a fellow Irish and feeling home sick, head to St Kilda in Melbourne and you will feel like you never left the Green land at all. There is a whole little community of us here and that goes for English also. Everybody looks out for each other. I remember when i was going to Darwin for a couple of nights but hadn’t sorted any accommodation. My house mate at the time rang up his Irish cousin who livedĀ there to collect me from the airport and i stayed with them for the whole time. That is the beauty of everyone knowing everyone out here, we are like one big family.

3-Jobs are plentiful-
No sign of a recession here yet lads. However coming here you will have to be willing to work at anything. I started off working in a Nursing home in Perth(yes wiping arses for a use of better words). Then i moved to Melbourne and worked in a call center selling electricity( one of those guys). This job was literally sole destroying( having people telling you f off over the phone) but was such a fun young environment to be part of at the same time. Its a great start off job to meet fellow travellers and make friends for life. From there i upped the ante on the jobs front and worked for an events company that gave me the privilege of getting into the Grand Prix for free and enjoying complimentary steak dinners at Meat and Wine co. Those good jobs do and will come round in the end.

4-Its easy to stay for two years-
If you fall in love with Oz which most people do, you have the option to stay for two years. That does come with a little price of course being you have to complete three months farm work. While its natural to complain during this three month slog. I mean picking strawberries or bananas can only hold its novelty for a short time.. I worked in the wine industry in the famous surfer town of Margaret River in Perth. Looking back i think it was quite an interesting job. Seeing and experiencing the different processes that go into makingĀ a bottle of wine, its surprising how many there actually is. The big bonus of course is spending your evenings sampling different tastes of wine. Someones gotta do it!
5-Lifestlye-
Hands down these guys hit the nail on the head when it comes to the Perfect lifestyle. Some of the best places you will visit in the world are waiting to be discovered in Australia. Stunning beaches at their door step. Wildlife you wont see anywhere else in the world. Fitness is also huge here . I am not joking when i say everybody exercises. Mothers go out jogging with babies in prams. Seeing that is motivation enough in itself, so living her your bound to live a pretty healthy lifestyle. As far as countries go Australia is a relatively safe choice for a first time traveller. I mean we can never be fully confident on where is safe any more but over all there is low levels of violence and crime here. I mean compare their news bulletins to any where else in the world. The most outrageous thing that happens on their news is an elderly person crashing into a cafe. This happens all the time by the way so yea be wary of them ole cafes.
So there is my five reasons why i think a move to Australia is as easy as staying at home. I am not saying that this is the best country in the world for a first time traveller, i haven’t been to them all to know. What i can tell you in confidence though is after two years of living here is that i have never really met any one who hasn’t enjoyed their time there. Now if thats not saying something then i dunno what is.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions about Australia and moving there. I am no expert but i sure can lend you some sound advice.
